Boehringer Ingelheim Executives Gain Global Visibility into Key Performance Indicators with QlikView

Leading German Pharmaceutical Company to use Business Intelligence Tool as a Corporate Executive Dashboard for Global Analysis

Radnor, PA - 28 July 2010

Qlik Technologies Inc. (“QlikTech”), a provider of business intelligence software, today announced that Boehringer Ingelheim, a leading global pharmaceutical company with more than 41,000 employees, has implemented QlikTech’s innovative analysis and reporting tool QlikView, to provide its management team actionable insights into global performance trends. The QlikView-powered corporate executive dashboard allows upper management to analyze large amounts of data from multiple sources in clear and intuitive graphs. Boehringer Ingelheim plans to deploy QlikView worldwide to provide a global management information system, delivering significantly greater transparency for all important KPIs (key performance indicators) through quick and flexible data analysis.

“We started working with QlikView in the financial area, since our initial concern was to clearly present our current financial performance, which we monitor on a monthly basis,” said Thomas Lippich, project manager, Boehringer Ingelheim. “With the QlikView corporate executive dashboard, management will be able to better see how product sales are faring in various countries and regions at a glance. In addition, we would like to make trends and developments more transparent through access to historical figures.”

Boehringer Ingelheim also utilizes QlikView’s flexibility and ability to process large volumes of data in the controller‘s office. QlikView’s unique in-memory capabilities perform analytics in the controller’s office in seconds and minutes that could take other BI tools hours and even days.

The company also plans to build a QlikView-powered ‘visual cockpit’ for its Marketing and Sales division. For example, Boehringer Ingelheim plans to supplement important financial data from all corporate divisions with additional information, including data from outside sources, and make it accessible to upper management.

“We have gained a greater degree of freedom as compared to conventional OLAP technology and can dispense with many statistical reports,” said Lippich. “Of course, such reports are still being used internally in several divisions, but the plan is to offer QlikView to additional Group divisions in the foreseeable future.”
